Personal Shield Pro’s effective attack
Posted by Denny under Spyware
When you receive system notifications from Personal Shield Pro informing you that your PC is under attack, then your PC is indeed experiencing an attack, but not from the faceless threats as reported. Your PC is being attacked by Personal Shield Pro, a direct descendant from the same family of rogue antispyware applications as MS Removal Tool. It targets susceptible computers and once it manages to root itself in the system, Personal Shield Pro will blackmail its victims into paying for it by taking control of their PCs. For more reasons on why to destroy Personal Shield Pro, then read on.
First Personal Shield Pro enters the system surreptitiously, but remains hidden from the user until it securely ingrains itself in the system. It will then start its attack by starting a fake security scan which will invariably report on fake threats being present on the system, such as Trojan-Downloader.VBS.Small.dc and Win32.BlackMail.xx.
Soon after this fake scan finishes, the user will find himself presented with various fake security alerts informing him of the same thing. It will also block the user’s Internet connection, stating the following each time the user attempts to launch an Internet browser:
Personal Shield Pro Firewall Alert
Personal Shield Pro Firewall has blocked a program from accessing the internet.
Internet Explorer Internet Browser is infected with worm Lsas.Blaster.Keylogger. This worm is trying to send your credit card details using Internet Explorer Internet Browser to connect to remote host.
Personal Shield Pro will also not allow the user to execute any applications on the infected system, generating the following fake alert:
Warning!
Application cannot be executed. The file taskmgr.exe is infected. Please activate your antivirus software.
This is done to prevent the user from running or downloading any application which may be able to detect and remove Personal Shield Pro from the system. Disable these annoying symptoms to make it easier to get rid of Personal Shield Pro by entering this activation code:
8945315-6548431
This activation key will only disable Personal Shield Pro’s annoying symptoms, but will not remove the threat. Users should still erase Personal Shield Pro immediately by using the removal power of a powerful and legitimate security tool.
