OpenCloud Security: Familiar Rogue With a New Face

Posted by Denny under Rogue Anti-Spyware

Those familiar with the hotly despised Wolfram Antivirus rogue security application will immediately recognize the similarities between its latest clone: OpenCloud Security. This rogue antispyware application uses the same infiltration tactics incorporated by its forerunner, but improves on its attack by forcefully yet surreptitiously entering the system through browser hijacking websites and fake online malware scanners. Users may find it difficult to get rid of OpenCloud Security without some type of help.

The first clue users will have as to the presence of OpenCloud Security on the system will come from a falsely generated security scan. This fake system scan will inform the user that his system is being attacked. This fake scan will soon be followed by many fake security alerts informing the user of the same thing, two of which reads as follows:

Warning: Spyware Detected
Windows has found spy programs running on your computer!
Click here to update your Windows antivirus software

Windows Security Center
Serious security vulnerabilities were detected on this computer. Your privacy and personal data may be unsafe. Do you want to protect your PC?

OpenCloud Security will be responsible for various other deliberate symptoms that will cause the system to become inoperable. These range from blocked Internet connections, and the inability for users to launch applications on the system. Each time the user attempts to launch an executable on the system, the following fake alert will be generated:

Warning!
The file “taskmgr.exe” is infected. Running of application is impossible.
Please activate your antivirus software.

There is a way to circumvent these annoying symptoms – enter the following activation key into the rogue:

DB038748-B4659586-4A1071AF-32E768CD-36005B1B-F4520642-3000BF2A-04FC910B

Do not think that by only entering the above activation key that you will be removing the threat from your PC. You still need to destroy OpenCloud Security in order to restore your PC’s security.

You will only be able to secure your PC and protect your privacy if you erase OpenCloud Security. This can best and safest be done by using a legitimate security tool which will protect your system against similar attacks in future.
